On the show, "We Can Ever Come up Back to This" is a piece of music written by a young William (Jermel Nakia) for the band he's in with his cousin Ricky (Brian Tyree Henry), who sings it live on stage.

"My direction from Dan and from [directors] John [Requa] and Glenn [Ficarra] was to write a Motown tune," Khosla said. "I asked, do you have whatever direction? And John jokingly said, 'Just write the greatest song of all time.'"
Subsequently being performed as part of the storyline on the evidence, a second version of the vocal, sung by Hannah Miller, plays over the closing scenes of the episode.
Both versions are now bachelor as singles.
